Description:
A historic site with a long history, Stratford Engineering was engaged to stabilize the existing site, which had been home to a previously demolished art warehouse, and design a new 10 story condominium.
The new 25,000 square-foot residential building is a cast-in-place concrete structure using flat plate slabs and reinforced concrete shear walls. Included in the scope was the design of temporary steel to stabilize two existing sub-grade levels, as well as means-and-methods to facilitate demolition of the existing sub-grade structure while keeping existing foundation walls. Existing walls and new foundations have been over-excavated and underpinned due to proximity to MTA structure.
