Description:
An early 20th century, 3 store meat packing facility will be converted into a two-story flagship retail store. The existing 2nd and 3rd floors will be removed and replaced with a new steel and concrete 2nd floor structure to maximize floor to floor heights. A new passenger elevator will be provided at the rear of the building to provide handicap access to the 2nd floor sales space and basement. The existing marquee on the front facade was badly damaged and in need of repairs. An innovative shoring and reinforcement schedule was developed to preserve the canopy as "existing." Had it been removed, it would not have been allowed to be rebuilt to nearly the same size.
