Stratford Engineering was the structural engineer for the new 5-story building at 490 East Tremont Avenue in the Bronx, New York, for a new Essen Health Center. Stratford designed the new cast-in-place concrete with concrete shear walls and concrete flat slabs. Additional considerations for the building design include a large roof screen for rooftop mechanical equipment and an exterior concrete canopy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stratford was also designed the support of excavation of the building. The support of excavation involved the installation of temporary grouted steel piles along the South and East, street-adjacent sides of the building, with walers between the piles and rakers installed down to bedrock below. Included in the support of excavation was also a monitoring plan, containing vibration and optical monitoring compliant with applicable local building codes.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
