Stratford Engineering was the structural engineer for the new seven-story building at 1701 Macombs Road in the Bronx, New York, for a new Essen Health Care facility. Stratford designed the new cast-in-place concrete with concrete shear walls and concrete flat slabs. Additional considerations for the building design include a roof screen for heavy mechanical equipment, various concrete and steel supports for medical equipment throughout the building, transfer beams to support shear walls above, and steel dunnage platforms for additional rooftop mechanical equipment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stratford was also the designer of the demolition of the existing one-story building in its place. Careful consideration was taken considering the new design during the demolition phase of the project. In addition to demolition, Stratford was in charge of the support of excavation of the building, as the foundation installation involved overcutting of the existing subgrade on all sides of the new building.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
