Stratford played a pivotal role in the renovation of this existing rowhouse in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn. The badly sagging floor joists required extensive reinforcement throughout, with special detailing due to the thin existing stud party walls. Relocated stair openings helped to improve the interior layout. A new extension in to the rear yard dramatically increased the available floor area, improving the quality of the interior spaces and adding value to the home. Stratford designed the extension with economy and ease of construction in mind, opting for cast-in-place concrete footings, light gauge metal framing, and structural steel supports at the rear facade to allow for large window openings facing out onto the rear yard.<\/p>\n
