Description:

Stratford Engineering provided structural engineering consulting services to Vanderweil Engineers for the new SIBA Energy complex in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Stratford consulted on the design of multiple structures for the new power plant, including a two-story, 59,000 square foot building housing two turbines; 500-foot-long exterior steel pipe racks supporting various water and electrical pipes; and a 295’ X 75’ X 41’ tall cast-in-place concrete cooling tower structure.

The power plant was designed to reach a capacity of 290 MW, comprised of 12 natural gas turbines. The structures were designed to resist Category V forces, with wind speeds of 215 miles per hour.
