Description:

Stratford Engineering provided structural services for the conversation of an existing five-story church into a new multi-family apartment complex. A new elevator, concrete elevator pit, and masonry elevator wall was installed throughout the whole building. A new bulkhead was installed above the existing roof level in order to accommodate the new elevator. The existing roof was analyzed and reinforced to accommodate the increased live load due to the conversation to a walkable roof. Steel framing was installed at the roof in order to strengthen the structure.

A new steel-framed mezzanine level was installed below the existing church apse for a new bedroom. Miscellaneous openings throughout the space were also infilled to accommodate additional floor space.
