Size:

Description:

Stratford Engineering leveraged its considerable experience in the retail sector to help achieve a speedy turnaround on this new store for Japanese home goods brand MUJI in New York’s East Village. The main challenge of the project, in addition to the short timeline, was combining two adjacent spaces separated by a brick party wall into one store. Stratford designed a series of lintels that dramatically transformed the space, opening up valuable floor area while limiting disruption to adjacent buildings during the construction process. Additional work also included the construction of a new reinforced masonry block elevator shaft.
