Description:
Stratford Engineering was in charge of designing 178-02 Hillside Avenue. As a mixed-use building, it is one of the largest developments in Jamaica Estates, Queens. The building will include retail on the ground floor, automotive and bicycle parking on the second floor, and over 120 apartments that make up the the third-to-eighth floor. Stratford Engineering has designed a two-way concrete system for a flexible column layout that can accommodate the varying floor plans on each level.
Proximity to New York City Transit’s subway tunnels necessitated the use of deep foundation elements and unique engineering solutions to avoid impact on existing underground structures.
